Our Research using acupuncture combined with IVF (In Vitro Fertilization)

Dr. Paul C Magarelli at RMFC/HQA FC and Diane Cridennda at East Winds Acupuncture have been conducting research combining high-tech fertility treatments with acupuncture. Dr. Magarelli and Diane spoke in London, England in June 2006 at the ARRC (Acupuncture Research Resource Centre) at Thames Valley University. East Winds Acupuncture and RMFC also to presented an Oral Presentation for the 2005 Pacific Coast Reproductive Society’s Annual Meeting in Indian Wells, CA. This was the first publication addressing the issues of Acupuncture’s impact on the quality, quantity and function of embryos created in patients receiving acupuncture. Then on to Venice, Italy 2005: RMFC and EWA traveled to Venice, Italy where they presented data demonstrating a 25% improvement in Pregnancy Rates (statistically significant at < 0.05 level) for patients receiving IVF and Acupuncture and a statistically significant reduction in miscarriages, ectopics, and more “Take Home Babies” (THB) in the Acupuncture + IVF group versus controls.

Acupuncture: Impact on Pregnancy Outcomes in IVF Patients

RMFC/HQA FC is involved with ongoing research projects with East Winds Acupuncture, adding acupuncture to high tech fertility treatments, IVF (In Vitro Fertilization). Their research with IVF demonstrated that a higher percent chance of pregnancy, and more importantly, more babies were born to those who have acupuncture. THe research on Poor Prognosis IVF patients is published in the supplement of Fertility and Sterility Vol 81 Sup.3 April 2004: it won the Private Practice Physician’s award for Research Click here to link to this article. They have also recently presented their collaborative work on Good Prognosis IVF patients at the American Society for Reproductive Medicine’s (ASRM) annual meeting in Philadelphia. Acupuncture is an option for infertility whether you are using high tech fertility treatments or if you want to take a more natural approach. They both believe “We must take advantage of the breakthrough in modern technology, but we can’t lose touch with ancient wisdom of Chinese Medicine.” Both Dr. Magarelli and Diane’s will set up a treatment plan for your individual needs. Please call their respective offices for an appointment.
